The Chicago Cubs are a Major League Baseball team that play at Wrigley Field in the North Side Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The Cubs are part of the National League. They are one of two clubs in Chicago, the other being the Chicago White Sox of the American League. Both are charter franchises of their respective leagues. The Cubs are affectionately referred to by the media and fans as "The Cubbies", and are also nicknamed "The North Siders" in contrast to the White Sox, who play on the city's South Side.
Samuel Zell recently acquired the Cubs after buying the Tribune Company. The Tribune Company will sell the team after the 2007 Major League Baseball season.[1] The Cubs are managed by Lou Piniella. The team's president is John McDonough, and their general manager is Jim Hendry.
